Bullion Exchanges accepts both standard and hand poured gold bars, regardless of their minting process. Standard bars are the ones which bear the official stamp of the assayer and refiner on one or both sides, being usually accompanied by a certificate of authenticity, while hand poured gold bars are mostly manufactured by individual or private fabricators and do not contain mintmark engravings. However, this fact doesn’t affect the value of the precious metal if you decided to sell gold bars with no mint engravings.

First, the gold buyer will determine the karat of the gold. Here is a brief overview of gold karats:

14k – 14 karat gold is 58.3% pure
18k – 18 karat gold is 75% pure
22k – 22 karat gold is 91.6% pure
24k – 24 karat gold is at least 99.99% pure

Then, the appraiser will test the gold using nitric acid. Finally, they will weigh the gold to identify the purity. If you bring in gold bars, it will be measured by millesimal fineness, which is different from the Karat rating. From here, they will determine the price.

If you are looking to sell diamonds and other jewelry you will get good prices if you bring good products. He is very thorough, detailed and meticulous so if you have the time it is worth going here. That said, if you bring lower end items or have some emotional attachment to what you bring that inflates the value you personally have you will want to check emotions at the door. Supply and demand and accurate assessments is what will matter, but that is why this is a solid place to go.
